CHAPTER 4: ACADEMIC ADVISING Student development is an important goal of the Psychology Department, and the key to its success in this area is a strong, well-organized, and caring advising system. This chapter explains the Department's advising philosophy. It also contains information to help students plan their undergraduate experience (i.e., a first year to senior curriculum plan for a psychology major, the schedule of psychology classes, a set of suggested electives, and a strategy which will facilitate successful entrance into graduate school or the job market). It describes eight goals of general education that can be accomplished through the successful completion of these classes. It concludes with advice that will enable students to realize how their academic performance is affected by their classroom behavior. Chapter 4 contents: - Departmental Advising strategy |
